Pherusa: She Who Carries

Pherusa is the nereid associated with oceanic swells, and similar long-distance nautical phenomenae beneficial to ships.

Watercolor on cold-pressed paper. ~30 hours, total.


Poor nereid; I mangled her. It would behoove me to avoid sea journeys in the future, no?

I'm still not happy with the clouds. Or the sky. As soon as I stop feeling tired when I look at this painting, I'll probably fiddle with them some more, but for all intents and purposes, this is the final draft. The ship ended up too heavy-bodied to be a tea clipper... I think I need to practice painting ships in dry dock.
