N.G. 'Landscape' 5

Mark Thiessen and the other two photographers for the "National Geographic Expeditions: On Assignment-- Santa Fe" trip met us on Wednesday morning, chose five each from Tuesday, talked with us about composition, lighting arrangements, and agreements we had to sign about not selling any photographs that show visually distinctive elements of Eaves' Movie Ranch and Ghost Ranch. On Thursday, they turned us loose on Ghost Ranch, taking some of us to a box canyon, some of us to a set of badlands, and some of us right up to Chimney Rock. The assignment was "landscape."

This was the fifth of the five the photographers chose from my 20 best efforts.

(Personally, I don't understand the appeal of this one. Mr. Thiessen pulled it from my "rejects" pile. He actually liked the building in it. And, to top it with a cherry, this picture made it into the end-of-the-week slideshow! Not that I'm not grateful, but what gives, here?)
