N.G. 'Portraiture' 4

Mark Thiessen and the other two photographers for the "National Geographic Expeditions: On Assignment-- Santa Fe" trip met us on Wednesday morning, chose five each from Tuesday, talked with us about composition, lighting arrangements, and agreements we had to sign about not selling any photographs that show visually distinctive elements of Eaves' Movie Ranch and Ghost Ranch. Then they took us out to Eaves' Movie Ranch with the assignment "portraiture" and to teach us about on-location lighting, photographic panning, and working with professional models. The theme was quite western.

This was the fourth of the five the photographers chose from my twenty best.

(The model here goes by "Tara." She was the center of attention for the younger half of the class, but most people focused on her face. The photographers enjoyed this picture of Tara because they said it had more "mystery." )
